“La Pasquetta” — Easter Monday

Posted by The Flower Lady on

“La Pasquetta” or Easter Monday (literally “little Easter”) is a favourite Italian holiday. An official national holiday in Italy, it follows the religious intensity of Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday and allows families and friends to get together and enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed, informal manner. It is also known as “Lunedì dell’Angelo”“Monday of the Angel”

It is said that Easter Monday celebrations are based on the ancient Roman culture’s feast of “Lupercalia”, which was linked to re-birth after the hardships of winter and was a period of several days celebrating fertility and family.
